Narrow Chest of Drawers for Small Spaces

Filter

Most UK bedrooms don't have excess space. Whether you're working with a box room, a city-centre flat or a Victorian terrace, every centimetre matters. The narrow chests of drawers in this collection are picked specifically for small spaces, most are under 50cm wide, giving you genuine storage without sacrificing the floor space you have.

Thin, slimline and shallow-depth designs are all here — width and depth are listed on every product, so measure your space first, then shop.

Narrow Chest of Drawers for Small UK Spaces

Slim Tallboys, Narrow Depth Drawers and More

Our collection covers a range of different shapes and finishes, all with small rooms in mind. Tall skinny chests, such as the 5 Drawer Tall Unit, stack storage vertically rather than taking up floor space. Narrow but lower pieces, such as 3 Drawer Chests can be used either side of a bed, dressing table or just to fill in that gap.

Under 45cm Wide, 45–55cm Wide and Shallow Depth

Our thin chests of drawers come in three practical width bands. Under 45cm suits alcoves, chimney breast recesses and the space beside a wardrobe, and our slimmest narrow tallboy is just 41cm wide and 33cm deep. The 45–55cm band suits small double bedrooms and the gap between a door and a window. Slightly wider pieces up to 65cm give roomier drawers while staying well under a standard chest.

Shallow-depth designs from 33–42cm leave room to walk past in a tight bedroom. Slimline tall chests start from £189.99.

All dimensions are listed on individual product pages. If you're unsure what fits, our narrow chest of drawers buying guide covers how to measure correctly and advises the best type of storage.

Match the Ranges for a Complete Aesthetic

Many of our narrow chests belong to matching ranges, so you can pair a slim tallboy with a bedside chest in the same finish. The Croft Linen range pairs the 5 Drawer Tall Unit with a matching bedside chest in soft linen-painted pine. The Noir range brings the same matt black finish to a tall chest, a 4 drawer chest and a 3 drawer bedside chest. The Grove range does the same in olive-painted pine.

    FAQ

A narrow chest of drawers is usually considered to be under 50cm wide, compared with 80–100cm for a standard chest or storage unit. Most chests in our collection are under 50cm wide, with shallow depths from 33cm. Our slimmest narrow tallboy measures just 41cm wide and 33cm deep.

Aim for under 50cm wide in most box rooms, and under 45cm if the chest needs to sit beside a wardrobe or in an alcove. Height is rarely the limit, so a tall, slim chest usually gives more storage than a wide normal sized chest. We have a full guide on making the most of little space in box rooms.

Standard chests are generally considered to be 45–50cm deep. In a tight room, a shallow depth of 33–42cm leaves noticeably more space to walk between the bed and other furniture. Every product page lists both width and depth, so check both before you order. Please feel free to contact us with any space related queries and we will try to help you out.

Our range covers solid and painted woods. The Dune tall chest is sand-washed acacia, the Aspen comes in grey oak or black ash, and the Croft Linen, Grove and Mosaic ranges are painted pine. For a lighter, textured look, the Rattan 3 Drawer Tall Chest combines rattan drawer fronts with a wooden frame. We will happily answer any further questions you may have on any specific product. Yes they can, and in a box room it's often the best option. Bedside chests like the Noir 3 Drawer and Arrow 3 Drawer give you three drawers in roughly the footprint of a nightstand, and fit where the gap beside the bed is too tight for anything wider. Be careful to measure properly before ordering.

Yes they are, as long as tall chests are fixed to the wall. Any tall, slim chest can tip if drawers are pulled out or climbed on (which kids tend to do!) so use an anti-tip wall fixing in children's rooms. Our guidance is to always use them.

This depends on your home and they item you wish to purchase. A standard UK internal doorframe is 76–80cm wide, and most chests in this collection are under 65cm wide, so they should pass through easily. If you have a particularly tight staircase or landing, check the packaging dimensions on the product page and be sure to measure correctly. When moving any type of large or bulky furniture around your home, we would always advise to plan carefully, ask for assistance from others and wear protective clothing, if possible.

Delivery is free across mainland UK and should arrive with you in 2-5 business days. If the chest doesn't suit your space or you wish to return for any reason, you have 30 days to return it. Please see our returns policy for further details.
